CSV & Excel import format

You can upload a CSV (.csv) or Excel (.xlsx) file — both are supported. Your file needs at minimum a ticker and current_value column. All other columns are optional but improve the experience.

Column Required Example Notes
ticker Yes XEQT.TO Use .TO suffix for TSX
current_value Yes 12450.00 Market value in native currency
name No iShares Core Equity Auto-fetched if blank
currency No CAD CAD or USD. Inferred from ticker if blank
shares No 42.5 Used for buy plan share calculations
asset_type No ETF ETF or Stock
sector No Technology Used for sector breakdown charts

💡 Tip: Export your holdings from Questrade, Wealthsimple, or any broker as CSV, then rename the columns to match above. Column names are case-insensitive.

Frequently asked questions

You need to set your target allocations on the Rebalancer page first. Once you define your ideal % per ticker there and save, Wealthy AI will automatically pick them up and can give specific contribution advice ranked by drift.
Portfolio holdings are stored in your browser's localStorage and, when you're signed in, synced to a private Supabase database row locked to your user ID. No one else can access your data. Wealthy AI conversations are never stored — they exist only in your current browser session.
In Questrade: go to Accounts → Holdings → Export and download the CSV. In Wealthsimple: go to Activity → Export. Then rename the columns to match the format above (at minimum: ticker and current_value) and upload on the Dashboard.
The Portfolio page is where you view and manage your actual holdings and their current values. The Rebalancer page is where you set your target allocation (ideal %) independently — targets never change unless you edit them there. The two are intentionally kept separate so loading new portfolio data never clobbers your targets.
The buy plan takes your deposit amount and allocates it to the most underweight holdings first (largest negative drift). For each holding it calculates: gap = (new total × target%) − current value, then divides by the live share price to get whole shares. Leftover cash that can't buy a full share of any underweight position is reported separately.
The app fetches a live USD/CAD rate on load and stores it in localStorage as wr_fx_rate. All values are converted to your chosen display currency (toggled in the Dashboard header). TSX tickers ending in .TO are assumed CAD; all others default to USD unless your CSV specifies a currency column.
Yes! Visit the Models page to browse pre-built Canadian portfolios — including Canadian Couch Potato, all-in-one ETF portfolios, and more. Click Copy to Rebalancer on any model to instantly load those targets into your Rebalancer without overwriting your existing holdings.
